KENYAN COLLECTION
In a unique collaboration, we present the Kenyan Collection, a limited edition collection of headbands hand-embroidered by Maasai women in Kenya.
The women previously made the well-known headbands ridden by the stallion Crusader Ice at, among others, the Falsterbo Horse Show.
You can find the collection here and all profits from the headbands go directly to the Maasai women.
IN COLLABORATION WITH MASAI WOMEN
The women live in the village of Keerok in the Masai Mara, the large national reserve in southwestern Kenya. They are experts in pearl embroidery and have embroidered the headbands in a traditional, yet modern Maasai design.
Even the Belgian equestrian brothers Nicola and Olivier Phillipaerts have specially designed pearl headbands on some of their horses, a gift from the women when the brothers visited the Entumoto camp in Masai Mara.
HELP THAT MAKES A DIFFERENCE
Each headband takes two days to embroider. The income from the sale makes a big difference to the women in their tough everyday lives. Anna Ole Ntajya, 45, for example, has nine children that she supports alone since her husband fell from a tree and broke his back.
She and the other Maasai women find it exciting to make a new product; headband for horses.
